NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon (Special Preservation) Certificate
A refined kozuka crafted in shakudō with an exceptionally fine nanako (fish-roe) ground, depicting a tomabune (thatched boat) in subtle relief and gold highlights.
The nanako surface is evenly and precisely punched, forming a restrained, light-absorbing ground from which the quiet silhouette of the boat emerges. The composition is deliberately minimal, emphasizing balance and refined taste rather than ornamentation.
The motif of the tomabune — a small boat covered with woven straw matting — evokes calm waterside scenery and poetic solitude, themes favored in classical Japanese aesthetics.
Signed Gotō Mitsunori.
Accompanied by NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon certification.
A dignified example of Gotō school workmanship, demonstrating technical precision and understated elegance.
