秋篠宮妃紀子殿下の御成婚後、初度の伊勢参宮に際して調進された小袿。紅花染の菱繋文を地に、黄白の菊花丸文を浮織で表した意匠は、皇室ゆかりの象徴性と高度な染織技術を示しています。伊勢参宮当日は別の小袿が着用されたため、本品は未着用のまま調進家に留め置かれたと伝えられる希少作です。

Prepared for Princess Kiko of Akishino’s First Pilgrimage to the Ise Grand Shrine (Unused)
This kōchigi was prepared on the occasion of Princess Kiko of Akishino’s first pilgrimage to the Ise Grand Shrine following her marriage. The garment features a safflower-dyed linked diamond ground adorned with chrysanthemum roundels woven in the ukiori technique, reflecting both imperial symbolism and refined textile craftsmanship. As a different kōchigi was worn for the pilgrimage, this piece remained unused and was retained by the household that prepared it. A rare example distinguished by its provenance and preservation.
