こちらは長谷川等益筆「宇治川先陣」図と伝わる一幅。

源平合戦の名場面、佐々木高綱と梶原景季の先陣争いを描いたものです。
画中には、黒馬の高綱、栗毛の景季。伝説として語られ続けたあの一瞬が、ここにあります。

Racing through the Uji River — the pride of the samurai.

This hanging scroll is attributed to Hasegawa Tōeki, depicting the legendary “Race at the Uji River.”

It captures a famous scene from the Genpei War, where Sasaki Takatsuna and Kajiwara Kagesue compete to cross the river first.

In the painting, Takatsuna rides the black horse, and Kagesue the chestnut.

The moment—told and retold through generations—lives vividly on in this one image.

長谷川等益
雲谷等益（天正十九・1591～正保元・1644）は雲谷派二代。雲谷派初代である等顔の次男で、名を元直といい、別号を友雲とした。また雪舟派正系を名乗り周防、長門を中心に活躍。また雲谷派と長谷川等伯との間では雪舟流の正系をめぐって争ったと伝えられる。長谷川等益款記、不明印。
