Featured in the 143rd Kogirekai Auction – Byōbu Festival
This elegant screen depicts the famous coastal landscape of Wakanoura in Kii Province (modern-day Wakayama), a well-known site of scenic beauty and spiritual pilgrimage during the Edo period.
The composition is rich in detail — ferryboats filled with pilgrims, shrine visits, processions with mikoshi (portable shrines), and hillside roads crowded with travelers of all classes.
